21 Jul Maternity in the fields
I always love speaking to new Moms having their baby; they are so giddy, nervous, full of joy and anticipation of what is yet to come. When they select me to preserve this special time of their pregnancy journey, I think I’m the one who then becomes giddy, a bit nervous and full of happiness! Fast forward to when we finally meet in person, I believe we both agree, we feel more comfortable and relaxed around each other. We’ve since communicated via telephone, sometimes in person over coffee/tea (which I always encourage), and many many emails and text message exchanged all hours of the day. When the big day arrives, it’s us two Moms hanging out…one with a camera and the other looking rather ravishing. I don’t know whose job is more difficult at that moment going forward, mine or theirs. I know the nervousness and expectations of what I would want, both in front and from behind the camera…that is where the magic begins. It’s about the experience we share together, the emotions you feel when you glance down thinking about your little blessings growing inside of you, the soft gaze off in a distance imaging when he or she is placed into your arms.
It reminds me of my maternity session day of errands and appointments. One trip to the blow dry bar, one with make-up and even a quick mani-pedi to polish me off for the photoshoot. This was my day to pamper myself and for me, I needed a day to feel beautiful aside from perpetual swelling, sleepless nights and endless doctor appointments with each baby I carried. So I encourage each mother to enjoy a day of feeling pampered and relaxed, when I finally get to see them ready for their photoshoot they look even more glowing and beautiful. You can see it in their eyes, in their smile and you can just feel it. This is their important day, it’s all about Mommy and that little peanut growing inside.
